We’re not trying to kick the guy, but it’s pretty much been a downward trajectory since Mike Sherman was coach and general manager of the Green Bay Packers.
Sherman was stripped of that GM title in 2005. He was canned as coach of the Packers a year later. After a brief stint as an assistant in Houston, Sherman was named head coach at Texas A&M in 2008. He would lose that job, and hear the news while visiting with a recruit, in late 2011. Then Sherman rejoined his former pupil, Joe Philbin, as offensive coordinator of the Miami Dolphins. That stint lasted just two seasons, with Sherman serving as the scapegoat for Miami’s 8-8 2013 campaign.
Now, Sherman has agreed to take on a high school coaching job.
The job at Nauset Regional High School in Eastham, Massachusetts, to be exact.
Sherman lives in nearby West Dennis, Massachusetts. He obviously wanted to coach again, but says he didn’t want to move his family again.
“I felt after Miami I couldn’t put my family through another move,” Sherman said. “My wife Karen has put up with a lot in regard to my career and was happy to have unpacked her last box. We’ve been coming here almost every summer over the last 30-plus years as a family so we felt this was a natural fit for us to call Cape Cod home.”
Hopefully, this stop will be more successful than the last couple have been for Sherman.
