I do remember thinking halfway through the first round that there was no way he’d make it past pick #20. But that pick came and went and I knew the pack would grab him up. In retrospect he marked the end of the Mike Sherman era. Like 5-11 that year from a team built on veteran free agents that were way past their prime. I remember names like Hardy Nickerson, Wesley Walls, Terry Glenn… seemed like the roster was stacked with guys like that. The team still had all kinds of talent for most of those years but no way could they contend with Brent and Mike Sherman at the helm. What a waste.
