James Jones

Guess who's after J.J.

To no one’s surprise, left guard [intlink id="94" type="category"]Daryn Colledge[/intlink] signed with the Arizona Cardinals today and defensive end [intlink id="163" type="category"]Cullen Jenkins[/intlink] and receiver [intlink id="204" type="category"]James Jones[/intlink] might follow him out the door soon.

Jenkins is being pursued by both the Washington Redskins and [intlink id="140" type="category"]Dallas Cowboys[/intlink], although the Redskins appear to have the lead. The Packers have shown zero interest in re-signing Jenkins, even though he offered to take less money.

His injury history and age (30) have simply made him expendable, despite his seven sacks last season.

Jones, on the other hand, probably has his best years ahead, despite his maddening penchant to drop balls. And guess who’s after him?

That’s right, the [intlink id="35" type="category"]Minnesota Vikings[/intlink], where old Packers go to die. The Vikings are said to be making a serious push to sign Jones.

They lost their top receiver, Sidney Rice, to Seattle yesterday.

The Packers have had discussions with Jones, but the Vikings will probably drive up his price and push the Packers out of the running, despite Aaron Rodgers’ insistence that Jones should be the team’s No. 1 priority.

Colledge got a five-year deal from Arizona worth $27.5 million.
