Packers Add Fifteen Undrafted Free Agents
The Green Bay Packers agreed to terms with three undrafted free agents Monday evening and added several more this morning.
They are South Carolina receiver Tori Gurley, Delaware safety Anthony Bratton, Utah receiver/return man Shaky Smithson, South Florida center Sampson Genus, Utah State quarterback Diondre Borel, Arkansas State safety M.D. Jennings, Middle Tennessee State outside linebacker Jamari Lattimore, James Madison center/guard Theo Sherman, Bringham Young defensive end Vic So’oto, Arkansas guard Ray Dominguez, Ohio State running back Brandon Saine, Arizona State receiver Kerry Taylor, Minnesota fullback Jon Hoese, Youngstown State cornerback Brandian Ross and Temple defensive tackle Eli Joseph and linebacker Peanut Joseph, who are twins.
Gurley caught 44 passes for 465 yards and four touchdowns last season. Bratton recorded 66 tackles and two interceptions in 2010.
Smithson caught only 25 passes for 383 yards and three touchdowns, but he was first in the nation in punt return average at slightly more than 19 yards per return. He scored two touchdowns and averaged 24.1 yards per kickoff return.
If [intlink id="1616" type="category"]Randall Cobb[/intlink] doesn’t become the Packers primary return man, Smithson could be the guy.
Genus was a first-team All Big East selection his senior season. Borel was a quarterback at Utah State (2,108 yards, eight touchdowns and 13 interceptions), but will play receiver for the Packers.
Jennings recorded 84 tackles and three interceptions in 2010. Lattimore racked up 11.5 sacks last season, but at 230 pounds, he’ll need to add weight to be effective at the NFL level.
So’oto recorded 45 tackles and five sacks in 2010. He will move to outside linebacker with the Packers.
Saine had 70 carries for 337 yards and two touchdowns his senior season. Taylor caught 54 passes for 699 yards and three touchdowns. Hoese rushed 19 times for 53 yards and three touchdowns in 2010.
Peanut Joseph recorded 71 tackles in 2010. His brother recorded 41. Ross was credited with 60 tackles and three interceptions in his final college season.
All of these players will be long shots to make the final roster, but some may end up on the practice squad.
