Formulate the average career length, by players with at least 4 years in the NFL, and you'll find the average more to be in the 8-9 year range, You cant include an average of all players, especially the ones without the talent to last 1-3 years in the NFL. You have guys that only last a month, and get cut, and no one picks them up, your going to count that to an average nfl career?....get outa town.

I'm not saying I feel sorry for the players, but your forgetting subtracting 50% for taxes, health insurance, etc...5-15% for the agent, lawyers, etc...and now your at about $1 million for a career. that might be pension worthy.

I would like to express that both these "lockout-orientated" articles are mainly meant as a presentation of the facts as they are, and not as a lobby for either side. Yes, there is no hiding that they may be slanted towards the owners, but the facts are what they are. The fact is that rising player salaries are the direct reason why ticket prices are going up. It has nothing to do with profit, since the Packers are a non-prof.

On the other hand, I support the players and any worker's right to negotiate per the rules management agreed to when their CBA was agreed on. Of course, I wouldn't exactly say the players have negotiated rather than refused to, but that is me taking sides again.
