Rodgers: Team Workouts Will Be Difficult

Rodgers says team workouts are a problem during the lockout.

Green Bay Packers quarterback [intlink id=”25″ type=”category”]Aaron Rodgers[/intlink] isn’t so sure he and his teammates are going to be getting together for team workouts.

While several teams around the NFL have pulled together some sort of team-oriented workouts, the Packers haven’t and don’t seem in any hurry to do so. In fact, linebacker [intlink id=”80″ type=”category”]A.J. Hawk[/intlink] essentially said he doesn’t see the point and for the most part, we would agree, since coaches can’t have contact with players during the lockout.

Rodgers, on the other hand, termed team-oriented workouts difficult, simply because his teammates are located all over the country.

“That’s something I’m sure we will do if it continues to drag on,” Rodgers said in a radio appearance. “I think if you look at some of the reports that are out there, a lot of that is maybe over-exaggerated about people getting together. You think about the number of different issues that are involved with getting those kinds of people together. It’s just difficult to do. Donald [Driver] lives in Houston and he’s not going anywhere. Greg [Jennings] lives in Michigan. James [Jones] lives in San Jose. Jordy [Nelson] lives in Kansas. And Brett Swain lives in San Diego, so to get those together who are all married and living with kids, is tough to do. We’re going to try but it’s going to be difficult.”

Obviously, Rodgers has a point.

We doubt the Packers, other than possibly the rookies, will be affected much by not working out together this offseason. Rodgers and his receivers are clearly on the same page and without coaches, the team won’t be implementing any new plays or schemes.
