That Elmore is 6’5, someone with his size can be a problem for offenses trying to throw to that side. hopefully he’s fast enough to get around the tackle when blitzing. exciting prospect. that dj smith sounds like a solid special teamer right off the bat and maybe develops into something more just like desmond bishop. great draft pack!

Elmore is a nice effort guy in the mold of Frank Zombo but I thought that the 49ers got a better value with Bruce Miller from UCF who is also in this mold. Time will tell…

I think they traded to get more picks to find special teams players towards the end. That’s just my guess.

Where is Smith supposed to fit into the 3-4? I understand completely that Thompson’s way has worked remarkably well (for the most part), but this just seems like a square-peg-meets-round-hole kind of deal. I’m trying not to get too worked up over this, but was this guy really the best player available? Need or not, was there not a more talented… I don’t know, safety available? or a quarterback? or another lineman? This just makes very little sense to me.

The guard prospect seems like a pretty good fit, in any event.
