Hooray! The Lockout Is Back On!
Taking his ball and going home… again.
Fuck the fucking fuck NFL owners.
Apparently, they didn’t get the message when their commissioner was booed as he opened the NFL Draft last night. Of course, why would they care about anyone other than themselves?
Once their lockout was ruled illegal and their request for a stay was denied by U.S. District Judge Susan Richard Nelson, the league turned to the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals and asked for a stay.
After the league formally opened for offseason business this morning, in accordance with Nelson’s order, the 8th Circuit turned around and granted the NFL a temporary stay this evening.
“The purpose of this administrative stay is to give the court sufficient opportunity to consider the merits of the motion for a stay pending appeal,” the ruling said.
Awesome! You are all awesome!
The league is appealing Nelson’s initial ruling in the 8th Circuit. They had argued that opening for business, with possibility of closing down again in the event they win their appeal, could unfairly alter the competitive balance of the NFL.
Right.
In the end, the billionaires got their way and get to take their ball and run home like the little bitches they are, at least for now. The court could rule if they stay will become permanent as early as next week.
If that happens, the lockout will be in effect until the NFL’s appeal is decided. If it doesn’t, the league will be forced to open for business again before a decision on the appeal is rendered.
In other words, this is all a big a mess.
I mean, whatever you assholes do, don’t sit down and negotiate a new labor deal. That wouldn’t make any goddam sense.

I don’t see why all the vitriol towards this ruling. We need the lockout. The lockout forces the players to compromise. Without the lockout, shit could go on for who knows how long. A deal would never get done.
According to what we heard, which the NFLPA hasn’t really repudiated, the owners reduced the $1 billion they were asking for to $350 million. That is a 65% compromise, and yet the players still said, Screw you, and decertified. You think we need the lockout to get this done? Yeah, you bet we do.
All this ruling means is that the lockout remains in place until the Appeal is heard. That is all.
