We all suffer while the stupid NFL owners and players continue their bickering over a new labor deal, but perhaps no one will suffer more if the NFL loses games than the guys who raise and slaughter chickens for your pleasure.

That’s right. The chicken wing industry will take a huge hit if the lockout continues into September.

An extended NFL lockout would be devastating to the chicken wing industry, which has already seen prices drop precipitously this year, the chief executive of Sanderson Farms Inc said.

“It would kill wings, it would be terrible on wings,” Joe Sanderson said.

I’m sure you can connect the dots. People sit at local bars and eat wings and swill beer during NFL games.

No games, no reason to go to the bar on Sunday, no reason to eat wings.

No reason to kill so many chickens.

You’re from Wisconsin, though. You don’t need a reason to go to the bar. Hell, there’s probably some UEFA Cup game on right now you could be watching while getting drunk. Or you could always replay the Super Bowl. I’m sure some place has it on TiVo.

Get over to The Bar, or whatever watering hole is in your area, and order some wings while you’re there.
