Matt Flynn

Flynn should be riding the pine in Green Bay this year.

Matt Flynn, the Green Bay Packers backup quarterback, has become a hot commodity since he started his first game in December.

Flynn’s name has been tossed around as potential trade bait since then, but Packers general manager Ted Thompson doesn’t have any intention of moving him.

“People are trying to get ahead of themselves, saying this is the logical next step.  That’s not necessarily the logical next step.  He’s on our team,” Thompson said.

“[Flynn's] future is to be on our team. That’s our plan right now.”

Flynn is obviously a valuable backup, especially considering Aaron Rodgers history of concussions, but the Packers will eventually have to trade him. He’s capable of being a starting quarterback in the NFL and no one with that potential wants to be a career backup.

If the Packers don’t make a move this offseason, expect them to do so next year.
