They’re Despondent In Chicago
2010 was a good season for the [intlink id="13" type="category"]Chicago Bears[/intlink] — they won the [intlink id="527" type="category"]NFC North[/intlink], they made it to the NFC Championship game, and… yeah, well, they lost to a hated division rival with the Super Bowl on the line.
That’s gotta leave a bad taste in your mouth.
Since the Green Bay Packers won [intlink id="1425" type="category"]Super Bowl XLV[/intlink], the collective taste in the mouths of Chicago appears to have gotten a little worse, though. The Bears, or at least some of their fans, have finally realized why the Packers won the Super Bowl and how their team is slightly sub-par in comparison.
Take the Chicago Sun Times’ Rick Morrissey, who penned this owed to the Packers — Bears fans’ worst nightmare: Hated Packers figure to get even better.
Other than a Super Bowl MVP award and a share of the Lombardi Trophy, the quarterback has no baggage.
The general manager actually knows how to build a team through the draft.
The coach has enough confidence in his players that he lets them be measured for Super Bowl rings the night before the game.
In other words, the Packers are what the Bears aren’t, at least in those key areas.
We already knew that in Wisconsin.
And then there’s the Chicago Tribune’s David Haugh, who’s already put the Packers in next season’s Super Bowl.
I don’t know of an NFC North team good enough yet to get in the Packers’ way once they add their 15 injured players into the mix. I can think of only one or two teams possibly capable in the entire NFC. The Patriots in the AFC with a bunch of draft picks come the closest, so, assuming there’s football in 2011, let’s look forward to Indianapolis hosting a Super Bowl XLVI showdown between Rodgers and Brady.
I hate to say it because I’m done rubbing salt in that wound, but… typical Bears fans.
Only after the fact do they see the obvious flaws in their team.
