McCarthy Will Get Three-Year Extension
Mike is about to get a little richer.
Green Bay Packers coach [intlink id="67" type="category"]Mike McCarthy[/intlink] will get a three-year contract extension paying him an average of $5 million per year, according to Bob McGinn.
The finishing touches haven’t been put on the deal yet, but that seems like a formality at this point. The Packers announced general manager [intlink id="20" type="category"]Ted Thompson[/intlink]‘s three-year contract extension last week — a deal he signed in December. Additionally, team president Mark Murphy said both men would get contract extensions after the Super Bowl.
Although the deal will put McCarthy among the top 10-salaried coaches in the NFL, he’ll still be the second-highest paid coach in the NFC North, following the Chicago Bears Lovie Smith, who currently makes $5.5 million per year.
McCarthy’s previous contract, which had two years remaining, averaged around $4 million per year.

He deserves it like FF84 said above, he is one of the most underrated coaches in the NFL (that’s a good thing), and the most important, he is classy and know what to say to the media and when to stay quiet, unlike cof cof Rex Ryan cof cof.

I like that McCarthy wants to COACH. Too many coaches want more control, ‘new challenges’, which usually doesn’t work. There’s a good formula to build a winning franchise, and I think the Packers have had it in place for the last 5 years. Stay hungry!
