Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews has been named defensive MVP by the Professional Football Writers of America and Pro Football Weekly.
The two organizations worked together to choose All-NFL and All-Rookie teams, as well as select MVPs, coach of the year, etc. The Associated Press hands out the official NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, which Matthews is among the front-runners for.
He also won The Sporting News defensive player of the year award.
Matthews was the only member of the Packers to make the All-Pro team. Right tackle Bryan Bulaga made the PFWA/PFW All-Rookie team.
The New England Patriots Tom Brady was named MVP and the Detroit Lions Ndamukong Suh was named rookie of the year.
