Cullen Jenkins

Jenkins could be gone for the year.

Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins didn’t play a snap on Sunday. In fact, he didn’t attend a single practice in the past week.

Jenkins has been staying off his injured calf, which he re-injured against San Francisco. The injury is likely to cost Jenkins another week and might end his season.

“You can’t rule out any possibility right now,” Jenkins said. “I have to take it week by week and see how it goes.”

That’s certainly not positive news for a Packers team that’s reeling after a 7-3 loss to the Detroit Lions. While the Packers defense played well enough to win on Sunday, they’ll face a much more formidable test when they travel to New England to face the Patriots, this week.

Jenkins has pulled the calf several times this season, going back to training camp. In addition to the Detroit game, he also missed wins over Minnesota and Dallas.

The Packers will certainly miss Jenkins’ pass-rushing ability, particularly against Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, who is having an MVP-worthy season.

Jenkins has a career-high seven sacks on the season, in what is a contract year.
