I PLAYED HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL WITH SAM SHIELDS AND HE’S A GOOD FRIEND OF MINE HE’S THE TYPE OF PLAYER WHO’S BEST IN THEIR COMFORT ZONE I HAVE PERSONALY SEEN HIM IN HIS COMFORT ZONE AND ITS SOMETHING TO SEE AND FOR THE RECORD ARE TEAM WAS UN DEFEATED AND UN SCORED ON AND ALOT OF THAT SUCCESS CAME FROM SAMS KICK RETURN ABILITY EVERY TIME HE TOUCHED THE BALL U KNEW WHAT TIME IT WAS

I totally agree with you. Packers need to keep Sam so he can grow with us. He has potential to be really great in a year or two :)

I have been calling for Shields to fill this role for about a month now. Props to MM for making the move, finally.

Shields had trouble catching the ball. That is not a concern for a kick returner, who has plenty of time to gather the football, and a kickoff is typically easier to catch than a punt. The concern for a kick returner is fumbling. That wasn’t Shields’ problem. Shields is the fastest player on the team and immediately gives the Packers a bonafide threat there.

I am fine with Tramon returning punts. It appears that he genuinely likes the role. Other teams have all had important players returning and been fine with it, see Minnesota, New Orleans, Chicago, etc. If they can all have key players returning punts, why not us?

i agree with jurgens, but shields first has to prove he can field the ball… we definitely need to get tramon out of the punt returner role. i know we’re pretty deep at the corner position but our depth keeps jarrett bush off the field if only on defense… if tramon goes down jarrett becomes our nickle guy, and thats not in our best interest. but he has played better as of late…

Fine, just keep him away from punt return position until he has proven beyond all doubt he can field the football.
