Green Bay Packers tight end Jermichael Finley joined six of his teammates on injured reserve, Monday.
The Packers officially ended Finley’s season when they completed the trade to acquire safety Anthony Smith from the Jacksonville Jaguars.
There was a possibility Finley could have returned to the team this season. He had surgery to repair a torn meniscus last week and it was projected he would be out eight to 10 weeks.
The Packers obviously didn’t feel they could wait that long.
“This is completely in the best interest of Jermichael,” coach Mike McCarthy said.
Finley had 21 receptions for 301 yards and a touchdown on the season.
