Simpkins Signed, Burnett To IR
Your newest member of the Green Bay Packers!
The Green Bay Packers officially put injured safety Morgan Burnett on injured reserve today and they signed linebacker Maurice Simpkins off the practice squad to take his roster spot.
Simpkins is a first-year player out of Coastal Carolina who came to the Packers from the Green Bay Blizzard of the Indoor Football League. He was with the Packers during the preseason and spent the first four weeks on the team’s practice squad.
Simpkins will add depth to a linebacking corp that will be without both Nick Barnett and Brandon Chillar this week and possibly longer.
Linebacker Johnny Williams, a first-year player out of Kentucky, was signed to the practice squad.

Apparently this dude is somewhat legit. He played for the greenbay blizzard in the IFL and they are sad to see him go. “Maurice the beast” He was a computer programmer in 2009 and decided to go back to football. Who knows? He could be the next Kurt Warner except obviously as a linebacker not a quarterback.
