Ahman Green Goes Back To Nebraska
Green has likely made his last run for the Packers.
As was expected, former Green Bay Packers’ running back Ahman Green signed with the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks, today.
Green grew up in Omaha and played collegiately at the University of Nebraska.
“I can not wait to put on a Nighthawks uniform,” Green said. “Doing what I do best in the town where I grew up in is a dream come true.”
Green rushed for 160 yards in eight games for the Packers last season, and became the team’s all-time leading rusher in the process, but it became clear in the offseason he wouldn’t be back with the team.
The Packers drafted running back James Starks in the sixth round of this year’s draft and Green was unceremoniously asked to clean out his locker when the Packers started OTAs. At the same time, his No. 34 was given to safety Anthony Levine.
In addition to Starks, the Packers have starter Ryan Grant, Brandon Jackson, Kregg Lumpkin and Quinn Porter filling the halfback position on the roster.
Green will be eligible to sign with an NFL team when the UFL season ends.
