Ahman Green May Go Home
Running back Ahman Green doesn’t appear to be in the Green Bay Packers’ future plans, and at 33 there’s at least one good reason for that — his age.
However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a team interested in Green, who’s the Packers all-time leading rusher.
The Omaha Nighthawks of the UFL have expressed interest in Green and Green has done likewise about the possibility of joining his hometown team. This will be Omaha’s first year of play in the UFL and in addition to growing up in the city, Green played his college ball at Nebraska, so the move makes some sense for the Nighthawks, who will be looking to put asses in the seats.
“It looks promising, but I’m just waiting still, keeping my options open. For me, it’s not a fallback plan at all. I want to play football. The Omaha team would be a great fit.”
The Nighthawks are coached by former Packers’ offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodinski.
The UFL will hold their five-round draft on Wednesday. Players who aren’t under contract to an NFL team are available to be selected.
