Just for the hell of it I took a look at the 2005 and 2006 fifth rounds to see how many good players that we drafted there 4-5 years later.

Grand total ~ 4 out of 64 picks. The best of the bunch is Bears DE Mark Anderson. The Bears love Anderson so much they sold the farm to acquire Julius Peppers this offseason.

Jurgens: Yes, as a matter of fact I did… “the 49ers suck and sometimes shitty teams overpay for things they don’t need to overpay for.” The fact that the author thinks the Packers should have considered taking a flyer on Ginn doesn’t negate the fact that he still thinks the Niners overpaid.

PackerFanInFl: While this may be true, the Niners didn’t need a dope-smoking super bowl winner. They needed a return man. And considering 5th round picks are usually spent on guys who offer little more than their speed and return skills, a former #9 overall pick w/ 4.3 40 speed and proven KR/PR skills doesn’t seem like a bad deal to me.
