Tauscher: Gettin' paid!

The Green Bay Packers have resigned right tackle Mark Tauscher to a two-year deal. Financial terms have not been reported.

The deal wasn’t unexpected. Packers coach Mike McCarthy hinted the deal was close on Friday.

The Packers have been busy in the the past week, reaching deals with left tackle Chad Clifton on the opening day of free agency and safety Nick Collins and nose tackle Ryan Pickett on Friday.

The Tauscher signing ensures the Packers will have depth on the right side of the line. Tauscher will likely compete with second-year man T.J. Lang for the starting spot at right tackle. Either player is a major upgrade over Allen Barbre, who opened the 2009 season as the Packers starting right tackle and was a complete failure.

The Packers have now resigned two of their four unrestricted free agents. Running back Ahman Green remains unsigned and outside linebacker Aaron Kampman signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
