Look into Chillys eyes... Look deep into Chillys eyes!

Look into Chilly's eyes… Look deep into Chilly's eyes!

Hey, it’s not even us who’s saying it this time, although we can’t say we disagree. We can’t say some people didn’t get to this party a little too late. We can’t say we didn’t say it first.

Brad Childress is an idiot. That’s essentially what ESPN NFL analyst Trent Dilfer told the Pioneer Press, this week.

Dilfer was speaking to the spat between Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre and coach Brad Childress that arose from Favre deviating from Childress’ game plan and play calls during games.

“… there is a mastery of the offensive game that some have and some don’t, and (Childress) doesn’t have it,” Dilfer said.

“What you have is a quarterback who has mastery of the West Coast offense more than any quarterback ever has. He has the best in-game feel of any quarterback to ever play — his intuitive feel for the game is second to none.

“So look at the polar opposites at work.”

So, if Favre is the “master” – which is what Dilfer is calling him – then Childress is an “amateur,” if we’re talking polar opposites.

That sounds about right to me.

Dilfer also noted that public perception has influenced Childress.

“No. 1, I don’t care what they say, (but) they are absolutely influenced by public perception. If the perception is that, ‘We need to run (Adrian Peterson) more, and if we do that, I’m going to get seen in a better light, then by golly, that’s what I’m going to do.'”

Chilly!

It’s a wonder the Vikings’ season is going down the toilet.

We believe in Dilfer’s analysis. He told the Pioneer Press he’s based it on conversations with people inside the Vikings’ organization and is confident it’s on target.

But really, we don’t need anyone to tell us Brad Childress is an idiot. Despite the signs of that idiocy being masked by the wins delivered by his quarterback, we’ve known it all along.
